June Favourites 2015

Hey loves,

believe it or not but we are already nearing the end of June so it's time for My Favourites post.

I would like to start with one of my recent discoveries which I never knew existed until I watched GiGi Gorgeous YouTube favourites video few months back. I love how GiGi's lashes look, so I figured this would be a fab thing to try. This is how I discovered the YSL Babydoll mascara - basically, it's false lashes in a tube! You can build lots of volume, add length, and staying power is awesome. No panda eyes or clumps. I bought mine at Debenhams for £25. The packaging is super cute and expensive looking. My only negative comment would be that it dries up super fast. I had it for about 7 weeks, and it's already dried up (or is it just me using it every day!?), so I had to pick up another one.

My next favourite is my perfume of the month - I yet again re-discovered Benefit's So Hooked on Carmella (£29 for 30ml). It's so sweet yet citrussy, I always get compliments when I wear it. I was debating if I should include this perfume in my favourites because sadly, Benefit has discontinued this perfume which is loved by so many. But since I love it so much I thought that Carmella definitely deserves a spot on my June Favourite's list. I'm definitely hooked!

Candles are well-loved in our household, and this month my favourite is by Bath and Body Works (BBW), and the fragrance is Guava Cobana. Since BBW doesn't ship to the UK, I've picked mine up on eBay (link to the seller) at the price of £18.48 for a large 3-wick candle. It's very fragrant, melts evenly, and doesn't need to be burning for hours to fill in a large room. It reminds me of summer, holidays and Santa Monica Beach (Ahhh I so want to go back to California!)

My fourth favourite this month is actually a movie which truly touched my heart. Blackfish is a 2013 documentary directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite which focuses on Tilikum, an orca held by SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida and the controversy over captive killer whales. I've visited that park in 2014 and saw Tilikum for myself. The show at the Shamu stadium was amazing, but I was not aware of the circumstances the orcas are kept in, and how incredibly intelligent these animals are. Tilikum's story is a sad one. I highly recommend this documentary to anyone who cares about animal welfare and wants to know the truth that often is hidden from the general public.

My last favourite this month is a body cream by Laura Mercier. This nourishing body cream makes my skin super soft and supple. The aroma is that of vanilla, tangerine and brown sugar - definitely good enough to eat. I also have a fragrance from this range, but I'm not loving it as much as this body cream. It's on the pricey side at £45 for 300g, but in my opinion it is definitely worth it! You can buy it from various department stores in the UK.
